Messaging payments aims to solve the last mile journey for businesses and their customers, facilitating the payment and transfer for global messaging commerce experiences. I contributed to innovating and expanding the scope of payments on Meta platforms, across Messenger and Instagram commerce markets. This work was made possible through close collaboration with an exceptional cross-functional team, including product managers, engineers, data scientists, content designers, and product marketers.

What is messaging commerce?
Messaging commerce, or conversational commerce, is the practice of conducting entire business transactions—from discovery and negotiation to payment—within chat apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, or LINE. Unlike traditional e-commerce, it prioritizes real-time, two-way communication, mimicking a personal shopping experience.
Southeast Asia is the global epicenter of this trend. Having "leapfrogged" the desktop era, the region’s mobile-first population prefers the intimacy of a chat thread over a static website. In markets like Thailand and Vietnam, messaging bridges a critical "trust gap" by allowing buyers to request live photos and negotiate directly with sellers.
